Data You Give Us Directly
Search Queries
A name or location entered in a search tool is sent directly to the outside provider that operates that feature. The provider processes the request and supplies its results. Scurry County Criminal History does not keep or log those search terms on its own systems.
Messages and Contact Submissions
An email or other direct message may be retained long enough to review it and respond. It remains within the site team unless disclosure is required by a valid legal obligation.
Data We Gather Automatically
When a page loads, the site servers automatically receive routine technical details about the visit:
- Page-view dates, times, and visit duration
- Device type and operating system
- The referring website, when one is supplied
- Browser name and version
- Pages viewed during the visit
- The device's assigned IP address
Cookies and Analytics
This site uses cookies, which are small files placed on a device. Along with analytics services, they help show broad traffic patterns, such as popular pages and where visits end. A browser can be set to reject cookies. Blocking them may change how some site features work.
What We Do With This Data
- Route a search request to the selected outside provider
- Diagnose errors, misuse, and performance problems
- Measure which Scurry County resource pages are useful
- Keep the website available and responsive
- Display advertising that may reflect visitor interests
No Criminal-Record Data on File
Scurry County Criminal History does not maintain, assemble, or sell a database of personal criminal records. It explains how to reach the Scurry County Sheriff, local court clerks, the Texas Department of Public Safety, and the Texas Public Sex Offender Registry. Official agency records may be subject to the Texas Public Information Act, Government Code Chapter 552, while access to criminal history record information is governed in part by Government Code Chapter 411. Those laws govern official custodians and authorized dissemination; they do not turn this private site into a records agency. We are not a consumer reporting agency under the Fair Credit Reporting Act, and visitor data is not used to create consumer reports about other people.
Third-Party Search Partners
Outside companies operate the search boxes displayed here. Information submitted through one of those tools is handled under that provider's privacy policy. The provider, not this site, decides how long it keeps the input and whether it shares data. Review those terms before running a search.
Links to Other Websites
Links may lead to the Scurry County website, court portals, Texas agencies, legal resources, or outside search services. Once a visitor follows a link, the destination's privacy rules apply. Read them before sending personal details.
Some advertising providers may use their own systems to follow activity across websites and tailor ads. This site does not control that outside tracking.
Who Might See Your Data
We do not sell personal information. Limited data may be available to:
- Analytics providers measuring traffic and site performance
- Outside search providers processing a query you submit
- Advertising networks serving ads on these pages
- Government or law-enforcement bodies acting under a valid legal order
How We Protect Your Data
Reasonable, standard safeguards are used for information collected by this site. No internet system is completely secure, however, so we cannot promise that unauthorized access or a breach will never occur.
Users Under 18
This website is intended for adults and does not knowingly collect personal information from anyone younger than 18. If a minor's information is identified, a request may be made for its deletion.
Your Data Rights
Rights concerning personal data depend on the law that applies to the visitor and the site. The Texas Public Information Act and Government Code Chapter 411 address access to government-held information and dissemination of criminal history, not private-site visitor accounts. Subject to applicable law, you may:
- Request access to personal data held about you
- Ask that inaccurate personal data be corrected
- Seek deletion where the law provides that right
- Opt out of covered forms of data processing
Updates to This Policy
This privacy policy may be revised as the site or applicable requirements change. A replacement version will appear on this page with an updated effective date.
